As a leading figure of The Chicano Art Movement in the 70s and 80s, César A. Martínez reimagines Mexican-American culture through his own lens while creating a presence of representation when it was lacking, and using his usual style of colorful backgrounds to contrast his subjects. In "Veterano", Martínez uses one of his many muses to portray diversity among his work, both stylistically and subjectively. Martínez creates an intimate space between the viewer and the work with front facing expressionless glances that delve into the renaissance of a culture reborn.
