Beauty in Art: 21st Century Interpretations: Central Library Art Gallery San Antonio

Ruiz-Healy Art is pleased to present Beauty in Art: 21^st Century Interpretations in the beautiful art space of the Central Library Art Gallery.

There are more than twenty languages worldwide, and therefore there cannot be only one expression of beauty, in either spoken or visual language. In this exhibition, artists from the U.S. and Latin America offer different interpretations of beauty. The historical parameter can be perceived in diverse forms: styles, framings and topics; there are modern concepts in painting, sculpture, photography and objects. There are stylistic approaches to contemporary artwork, such as Baroque visions by Ángel Rodríguez-Díaz, semi-abstract Expressionism by Juan Carlos Lasser, and Jesus Marcos' reinterpretation of Art Historical themes. Indigenous beauty is illustrated by Felipe Castañeda and Graciela Iturbide, while the work of Irma Guerrero and Shinzaburo Takeda recalls the colorful thriving of those cultures in urban scenes. Cecilia Paredes extends the ancient Pre-Columbian myths into the mestizo culture. The syncretism of mestizo art and European influence can be perceived in the work of Ray Smith and Sergio Fasola.
