Los Four: Almaraz / de la Rocha / Lujan / Romero, is a sixteen-page exhibition catalog produced by the members of Los Four in conjunction with their historic 1973 exhibition held at the University of California’s art gallery in Irvine and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. One thousand five hundred unnumbered copies were printed, serving as the exhibition’s only form of documentation. The catalog’s cover features FOUR spelled vertically with LOS intersecting and the two words sharing the letter O. Four lines sprout from this central O. Its content features the artistic career beginnings of Carlos David Almaraz, Roberto de la Rocha, Gilbert Sanchez Lujan, and Frank Romero, including their paths through college and religious anecdotes, represented as documentary images. The work of Los Four was an influential part of the burgeoning Chicano Art movement of the seventies.
